Bacon and Eggs

French toast with bacon and maple

French toast is art. Bread with infused egg topped with bacon and maple to replace the heaviness of butter.

The french toast at the Rathdowne Food Store, Carlton North was superb. Both sides of the toast was nicely crisp and I'm not sure if there was milk or cream or extra egg in the wash but the toast was so fluffy in the centre. Delightful. We could appreciate the bacon more had I turned the plate around before photographing. The bacon was beautiful. It lived up to everyone's favourite, well cooked with crispy edges, charred right. The bacon tasted as though it was barbequed, it had a smoky but not burnt flavour to it and best of all, it was not oily.
